Research

Research

The project began with research into depressive moods and emotional wellbeing among young people. Interviews with young users and a therapist helped identify needs around structure, self-regulation, grounding techniques and low-effort emotional support. Based on these insights, personas and user journeys were created to make the users’ emotional situations and interaction needs more tangible.

CONCEPT

CONCEPT

Several product ideas were explored before the team selected a multisensory smart lamp as the final direction. The concept combines a physical device with a connected digital interface, allowing users to create calming experiences through light, sound, scent, warmth, tactile feedback and guided mindfulness exercises.

Development

Development

The interaction flow was developed through paper prototypes, wireframes and a more detailed clickable prototype. Early user testing and card sorting helped refine the structure, improve usability and organize the functions into intuitive categories such as sensory atmosphere, dream journeys, meditations and mood-based suggestions.

DESIGN

DESIGN

Moodboards, UI references and a style guide shaped the final visual direction of the product and interface. Soft colors, gradients, glassmorphism and hand-drawn details created a calm, immersive and non-clinical experience. To present the full concept, the team also developed a storyboard and short product movie showing how the physical device and digital interface could work together in everyday life.
