While working as a media designer, I designed two volumes of the “Schau Hin!” brochure series for a Member of the European Parliament. The publications present Black biographies in the contexts of National Socialism and the European slave trade.

The project began with reviewing the commissioned content and understanding the purpose of the brochure series. Since both volumes dealt with historically sensitive topics, the visual approach needed to feel respectful, clear and professionally restrained.

The provided texts, biographies and visual material were organized into a consistent editorial structure across both volumes. A clear chapter system helped make the complex historical content accessible and easy to follow.

The brochures were mainly designed in Adobe InDesign, following a modern and minimalistic visual style. Typography, spacing, image placement and page rhythm were carefully balanced to create a clean, readable and consistent editorial design. The illustrations were created by an external illustrator and were adapted, positioned and integrated into the layout to support the content effectively.
